Why?

Am I learning Multiplication at age 6? Is this what Kindergartners learn in public school? Mama says her brain is too fried to remember what she learned in Kindergarten.
Um... Something does not compute...

Scenes from my week

Moreah and I played "Headbands" with Grandma Carol, which is kind of like 20 questions.

Where I am holding my favorite new person, Vignette. She's 3 weeks old and I'm dressed up for Ballet.

I like to use last years Halloween costumes as dress-up. Here I am in Moreah's witch costume from last year...

But this year I made up my own costume. I wore one of Mommys old costume wigs, a cape, and my red church dress. Mommy put white makeup on my face and I wore plastic teeth to be a scary vampire!
I really freaked Moreah out! Nobody in the neighborhood recognized me!

I'm eating alot of candy.

I love Vignette!

I always want to hold my new baby Sister, but as soon as she makes this face, I'm ready to hand her to someone else. I like it when she's calm and limp as a fish.
She doesn't smell like a fish though. She smells really yummy. I like her tiny fingers and her soft head.
My Mommy did a good job having her. I rubbed her back.
My Mommy's all better now, she doesn't have to lay down anymore.

Had Portraits Done!

I liked getting my pictures taken. Daddy took us.

We couldn't get Azrielle to smile, but at least she didn't run away!

Long Time, No Update.

Beth here...

Feeling super-bad about not updating Oni's blog in so long. Thought I'd put in a little update.

Onika is about to turn 6!!! I can't believe it. It's just not possible. But I did the math, and it's true.

She has "completed" her first year of kindergarten. By that I mean we did some kindergarten stuff this last year even though she wouldn't be in the public school system until this fall. So we'll continue with kindergarten this next year, moving ahead at her pace in areas such as math and reading, where she seems to move ahead easily.

And by "completed" I mean we aren't stopping school for the summer, just slowing it down a little. We're at low tide, and high tide will hit in the fall.

She is very much enjoying the science lessons that Mike is doing with the girls. He goes through the lessons, and they do pictorial narrations that they explain to me later. This gives us an idea of what they are getting out of each lesson. This, of course, is varies by age. :) You can see the curriculum HERE.

She loves to carry her little sister around piggy back, and objects to Azrielle's potty training "au naturel". I'm forever looking over to see that Onika's put a diaper on Azzie when I wasn't looking. Or maybe she is just offended by the nudity. Of course, she's never offended by her own...

Anyway, she's also very excited for the new baby to arrive in October. She is also quite vocal about wanting it to be a boy. Mike and I carefully tell everyone who asks that we will be just as happy with another girl as with our first boy, especially since if it's God's will, we'd like to have plenty more chances at more girls and boys.

Onika is still very much her own person. She's got a very strong personality. She's quite the kick in the pants. However you want to say it... she's special.

And as hard as I'm trying to squash all that with this nefarious home educating, and all the social stunting that goes along with it, she's proving to still be the effervescent, talkative, uncontrollable, driving her Mommy grey, impish, you never know what she's going to say next, best friends with you within 10 minutes, Onika.

Bonika.
